Yes­ter­day, before ’s highly anti­cip­ated con­cert at the Theater Con­cert Hall in St Peter­burg tomor­row even­ing, she gave a press con­fer­ence along­side who will con­duct the pro­gramme of Moz­art and arias.

Bartoli’s famed avoid­ance of fly­ing (air-conditioning bad for the voice and jet-lag bad for the body) sur­prised many:

Well, I’ve just arrived — and in a very pecu­liar way because I decided to take a ship. And I wanted to see the sea with all the ice… This is some­thing for a Roman. The Royal Bal­let School is to host a Con­fer­ence to mark the 10th Anniversary of the death of the Founder of The Royal Bal­let School and Com­pan­ies, Dame OM, CH, DBE (1898 — 2001).

This sig­ni­fic­ant and wide-reaching event will be held over the first week­end of April, 2011; open­ing at the , Clore Stu­dio Upstairs on Fri­day 1 April; con­tinu­ing at the Upper School, Floral Street, on 2 April, and con­clud­ing on 3 April at the Lower School, White Lodge, Rich­mond Park.
