Alexander Pereira will take over as the new sovrintendente or Chief Executive at the Teatro alla Scala in October 2014, that means a year earlier than anticipated. Stéphane Lissner will succeed Nicolas Joel as head of the Paris Opera in 2015.
Daniel Barenboim, who is the current musical director, will also leave. Pereira has said that the conductor who will take over from Barenboim will be Italian, and he will announce the name at the end of this year.
