Nicola Luisotti will be on the podium for a free streamed opera concert from La Scala in Milan, on Wednesday 24 March at 8 pm CET, which will be broadcast live via Teatro alla Scala's website, and its Facebook and YouTube pages.
A programme of arias, duets, and intermezzos features two of the top Italian voices of today: Francesco Meli and Maria Agresta.
Meli has been a constant presence in the programming at the opera house over the last decade and returns after participating in the opening of the season concert on 7 December. Agresta hasn't sung in the theatre since the Verdi Requiem conducted by Zubin Mehta in 2015. Luisotti was last at the theatre in February 2020 with Il trovatore, which was the first show not to be staged due to the pandemic.
The concert has music by Giuseppe Verdi, Alfredo Catalani, Giacomo Puccini, Marco Tutino and Umberto Giordano.
