The Cecilia Bartoli Forum reports that Bartoli is recording Norma in Zurich with the Giardino Armonico’s Giovanni Antonini conducting. The news comes from Radio Télévision Suisse in an interview with Antonini.
Bartoli performed the opera in concert form in Dortmund last year with Thomas Hengelbrock and his Balthasar-Neumann Ensemble. The result was memorising, even more so because of the doubts that even her most ardent fans had about the capacity of her voice to tackle this monumental opera.
Well tackle it she did, and La Bartoli emerged triumphant! It was therefore surprising not to see microphones dotted around the auditorium for a live recording. Now Decca seems to be putting things right, allowing her legions of fans to share her vision of Norma.
