Graham Spicer, aka ‘Gramilano’, is a writer, director and photographer based in Milan. He was a regular columnist for Opera Now magazine and wrote for the BBC until transferring to Italy. His articles have appeared in various publications from Woman’s Weekly to Gay Times, and he wrote the Danza in Italia column for Dancing Times magazine. Graham was the historical advisor on Codice Carla, the 2023 documentary on Italian ballerina Carla Fracci.
Graham also works as a dance photographer, and his photos have appeared in many books, theatre programmes, and magazines, including Dancing Times, Dance Spirit and Ballet2000, as well as all the major Italian newspapers.
He is a member of the Dance Section of The Critics’ Circle.

Just so you know, I spotted that when the whole performance was uploaded last year. He danced this in, I believe, Novosibirsk, and at the time he was still at the Bolshoi. I can be even earlier than last year.
Everyone who follows ballet knows it can happen, and it does not depend by the ballerina, but by shoes and floor. I hope she is the first one to understand it.

This reminds me of a lesson in which I and another girl had to cross the studio on spitzes and the teacher told us we really ‘had to go’ for the arabesque on spitzes (is it called spitzes in English?).
Anyway, so we started again and at the moment suprème we both went for it and fell flat on the floor. Must have been really funny to look at 🙂

It must be so hard to get your composure back so quickly. When a gymnast falls off an apparatus they always stand around re-chalking their hands for awhile. She just started dancing again almost instantly.
