After his surprise departure from the American Ballet Theatre in December, he has been working on a new choreographic project at The Washington Ballet, run by his old old ABT pal Julie Kent. His piece, The Outset – for the Three World Premieres programme – runs until 18 March at the Harman Center. The narrative ballet “explores the security of belonging to a tight-knit group and one man’s desire to explore a world beyond”.
Now the Mariinsky has announced that he will be dancing in Giselle on 18 March. His partner, First Soloist Osmolkina, was seen as Odette/Odile when the company visited the Royal Opera House last summer. Gomes has previously danced with both the Mariinsky and Bolshoi companies.
On 7 April, Gomes will dance with Misty Copeland in The Sarasota Ballet’s 27th Season Gala.
