Marcelo Gomes will be guesting with the Mariinsky Ballet as Albrecht, with Yekaterina Osmolkina as Giselle.
After his surprise departure from the American Ballet Theatre in December, he has been working on a new choreographic project at The Washington Ballet, run by his old old ABT pal Julie Kent. His piece, The Outset – for the Three World Premieres programme – runs until 18 March at the Harman Center. The narrative ballet “explores the security of belonging to a tight-knit group and one man's desire to explore a world beyond”.
Now the Mariinsky has announced that he will be dancing in Giselle on 18 March. His partner, First Soloist Osmolkina, was seen as Odette/Odile when the company visited the Royal Opera House last summer. Gomes has previously danced with both the Mariinsky and Bolshoi companies.
On 7 April, Gomes will dance with Misty Copeland in The Sarasota Ballet's 27th Season Gala.

Graham Spicer is a writer, director and photographer in Milan, blogging (under the name ‘Gramilano') about dance, opera, music and photography for people “who are a bit like me and like some of the things I like”. He was a regular columnist for Opera Now magazine and wrote for the BBC until transferring to Italy.
His scribblings have appeared in various publications from Woman's Weekly to Gay Times, and he wrote the ‘Danza in Italia' column for Dancing Times magazine.
