Nina Ananiashvili brings State Ballet of Georgia to London in summer 2024
The State Ballet of Georgia based in the Georgian capital of Tbilisi will visit London in 2024. The company’s last visit to the UK was in 2008 when it performed at the Edinburgh International Festival.
Nina Ananiashvili, former prima ballerina with Bolshoi Ballet and American Ballet Theatre returned home to her native country in 2004 to lead the company and the company’s reputation has soared. In 1999 she performed at the London Coliseum as Kitri in Don Quixote with the Bolshoi, and now Ananiashvili brings her company to London for the first time with the ballet Swan Lake.
She said,
Swan Lake is one of the best ballets in our repertoire. It combines elaborate costumes, stunning choreography, exquisite sets and props, and a young generation of dancers with Georgian characteristics. Swan Lake has always had an important place in my career. It was the first ballet that I performed in the Bolshoi Theatre and was my first and final significant performance at American Ballet Theater. I can’t wait to share it with audiences in London for the first time.
The company will perform at the London Coliseum with a company of 60 accompanied by the English National Opera Orchestra. It opens on 28 August and tickets have just gone on sale.

Graham was the historical advisor on Codice Carla, the 2023 documentary on Carla Fracci.
Graham also works as a dance photographer, and his photos have appeared in many books, theatre programmes, and magazines, including Dancing Times, Dance Spirit and Ballet2000, as well as all the major Italian newspapers.
He is a member of the Dance Section of The Critics’ Circle.
