La Scala closed 2025 with record ticket sales of over €40 million (+7.3% compared to 2024). Added to this is the record revenue of the La Scala Theatre Museum, which reached €3.4 million.
“From the moment I stepped into this role, I made it clear that our priority was to draw as many Milanese as possible to the theatre, as well as welcoming audiences beyond the city. The strong, steady figures for both performances and museum visits show that we’re moving in the right direction,” said Superintendent and Artistic Director Fortunato Ortombina, adding that this success “stems from the deep connection between the theatre and the city.”
“As we look ahead to the significant challenges of the coming years,” he continued, “these numbers are reassuring not only because they demonstrate La Scala’s financial stability, but also because they affirm how deeply the city identifies with its theatre. The more La Scala belongs to Milan, the more it will belong to the world. True international stature comes from ever-stronger local roots.”
Marketing and fundraising director Francesca Agus said, “The box office takings for the calendar year are the highest ever recorded by the theatre, which is a reflection of an average audience fill rate of over 90%, even for modern or contemporary repertoire performances such as Dmitri Shostakovich’s Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk, Silvia Colasanti’s Anna A. and Francesco Filidei’s Il nome della rosa. The number of companies subscribing to corporate season tickets has also grown, and our ‘Gift La Scala’ Christmas campaign saw almost double the demand compared to 2024″

The figures for the Theatre Museum are also positive. Director Donatella Brunazzi says, “In 2025, the Museum confirmed and exceeded the positive trend of previous years, recording a total attendance of 335,262 visitors, an increase of 41,645 compared to 2024 (+14%). This result was favoured by a particularly favourable economic situation for tourism in Milan and by a strategy aimed at diversifying and improving the cultural offering.”
