Carmen, Medea and Cassandra… just imagine all three around your dinner table… a diplomatic nightmare. For Italian choreographer Luciano Cannito they have provided him with inspiration for a new pièce: part dance, part poetry.
Called ‘Il processo' – The Trial – it gives these three women a chance to tell their side of their story, stories which are universal and still poignant today.
The ballerina Rossella Brescia – Cannito's wife and muse – stars with actress Vanessa Gravina with the dancer Amilcar Moret and actor Gennaro Di Biase at their sides. The work has been produced by Daniele Cipriani and the soloists and corps of the DCE DanzItalia company are also on stage.
Music veers between Bizet and Elvis Presley with a text by writer and journalist at the prestigious Corriere della Sera, Paolo Fallai.
Woman have inspired the show, and women will benefit from it: part of the ticket sales will go to aid SOStegno Donna, shelters which from September will be based inside hospitals in Genoa, Trieste and Rome as a refuge for victims of domestic violence.
