Cecilia Bartoli has withdrawn from her US Tour “due to unforeseen circumstances”.
The tour was to kick off in six days time from Santa Monica, five concerts in all, taking in Irvine and finishing in Berkeley on 2 April.
The Los Angeles Times reports that organisers Universal Music Arts & Entertainment were “unable to elaborate on the reasons behind the cancellation”. Bartoli has apparently put forward dates for rescheduling in June 2016.
The tour was to be based on music from her Sacrificium CD which won a Grammy in 2009 and is a programme that she has taken all over Europe in the intervening years, though a recouped date in Rome in April 2013 was the last time that she sang the full programme.

Graham Spicer is a writer, director and photographer in Milan, blogging (under the name ‘Gramilano') about dance, opera, music and photography for people “who are a bit like me and like some of the things I like”. He was a regular columnist for Opera Now magazine and wrote for the BBC until transferring to Italy.
His scribblings have appeared in various publications from Woman's Weekly to Gay Times, and he wrote the ‘Danza in Italia' column for Dancing Times magazine.

We miss you, Ceci!!!! I’m glad I got to see her at the beginning of her career in a fabulous recital in Chicago and a staged concert version of “Cosi” as Dorabella under the direction of Barenboim.
