Vivaldi Suite – free streaming of a new ballet from Rome Opera
Tonight at 8.00 pm CET, the ballet Vivaldi Suite by choreographer Michele Merola will be broadcast in free streaming on the YouTube channel of the Opera di Roma.
Merola is making his debut with the Rome Opera Ballet and is using seven dancers from the company, including principal dancer Claudio Cocino, who will dance to the music of the “red priest”. Costumes are by Anna Biagiotti, scenery is by Andrea Miglio and lighting by Fabrizio Marinelli.
Merola said,
Vivaldi Suite is a tribute to our Italian Baroque. It has no narrative but through dance and video projections it pays homage to the desire of all of us to return to being free to meet others.

Graham Spicer, aka ‘Gramilano’, is a writer, director and photographer based in Milan. He was a regular columnist for Opera Now magazine and wrote for the BBC until transferring to Italy. His articles have appeared in various publications from Woman’s Weekly to Gay Times, and he wrote the Danza in Italia column for Dancing Times magazine. Graham was the historical advisor on Codice Carla, the 2023 documentary on Carla Fracci.
Graham also works as a dance photographer, and his photos have appeared in many books, theatre programmes, and magazines, including Dancing Times, Dance Spirit and Ballet2000, as well as all the major Italian newspapers.
He is a member of the Dance Section of The Critics’ Circle.
