Royal Opera House Stream goes live with 130 titles

The Royal Opera House has launched a streaming service that offers 45 performances from The Royal Ballet and The Royal Opera’s archives. Together with these are also 85 behind-the-scenes features, trailers, talks and Insights.

Royal Opera House Stream costs £9.99 a month or £99 annually.  

Brand-new titles will be made available monthly, along with more behind-the-scenes content. The first selection contains two of last season’s most celebrated productions: ‘s The Dante Project, available from launch; and Oliver Mears’ Rigoletto with Carlos Álvarez and Lisette Oropesa, which will be available from Thursday 20 October 2022. Both are available in UHD and come complete with ‘wrap-around material’: an opera masterclass, artists in conversation, and a sneak peek at The Royal Ballet’s rehearsals ahead of their world premiere.

Alongside those new titles, Royal Opera House Stream offers a 45-performance catalogue, which includes full-length performances from the past two decades: Frederick Ashton’s , Christopher Wheeldon’s The Winter’s Tale, Wagner’s , Mark-Anthony Turnage’s Anna Nicole and Puccini’s . The titles can be accessed on a mobile, computer or Smart TV.

Back-stage films and masterclasses include Kristine Opolais and who discuss their debuts in Manon Lescaut; explores Puccini’s ; Roderick Williams discovers Opera: Passion, Power and Politics at the V&A ahead of The Magic Flute; and playwright Martin Crimp, composer George Benjamin and stage director Katie Mitchell describe their sell-out production of Written on Skin.

The Royal Ballet offers Alice in Wonderland rehearsals, a feature on costume designs with Bob Crowley; principal dancers Marianela Nuñez and Vadim Muntagirov discussing Peter Wright’s , their first narrative ballet together; and Kenneth MacMillan’s insights into Manon, relayed by his wife Deborah.
