Celebrate International Day of Dance with Arte.tv – free dance videos
Happy birthday Jean-Georges Noverre (29 April 1727 – 19 October 1810), and once again we celebrate International Day of Dance on the anniversary of the birth of the father of ballet as we know it today.
Arte.tv celebrates with free-to-view dance performances, from ballet to street dance, gathered together on the page Dance, Dance, Dance!
Arte.tv, the European culture channel, is co-funded by the Creative Europe Media programme of the European Union. It is available in six languages – English, German, French, Spanish, Polish and Italian. The channel was born out of the desire to bring Europeans together through culture and was launched in 1992. It is now available across Europe, free of charge and without having to create an account. As well as dance, Arte.tv offers classic and contemporary feature films, international series, documentaries, science and news programmes, concerts, and operas.
For the International Day of Dance, the channel offers a series illustrating the interaction between contemporary dance and architecture in Dance + City; another following the students of the Paris Conservatory of Dance; the highlights from this year’s Prix de Lausanne ballet competition and the Juste Debout breakdancing finals; and international artists interpreting the works of Picasso through movement.

Dance + City

Graham Spicer, aka ‘Gramilano’, is a writer, director and photographer based in Milan. He was a regular columnist for Opera Now magazine and wrote for the BBC until transferring to Italy. His articles have appeared in various publications from Woman’s Weekly to Gay Times, and he wrote the Danza in Italia column for Dancing Times magazine. Graham was the historical advisor on Codice Carla, the 2023 documentary on Italian ballerina Carla Fracci.
Graham also works as a dance photographer, and his photos have appeared in many books, theatre programmes, and magazines, including Dancing Times, Dance Spirit and Ballet2000, as well as all the major Italian newspapers.
He is a member of the Dance Section of The Critics’ Circle.
