Tony Award-winning director-choreographer Twyla Tharp and Olivier Award-winning actor Derek Jacobi will receive honorary doctoral degrees at the Juilliard School’s 106th commencement ceremony in May.
Tharp (Movin’ Out, The Times They Are A Changing, Come Fly Away) and Jacobi (King Lear, “Gladiator,” “Gosford Park”) will receive honorary doctor of fine arts degrees.
Also honored will be opera composer John Adams (Nixon in China) and jazz icon Herbie Hancock, both of whom will receive honorary doctor of music degrees.
Graham Spicer is a writer, director and photographer in Milan, blogging (under the name ‘Gramilano’) about dance, opera, music and photography for people “who are a bit like me and like some of the things I like”. He was a regular columnist for Opera Now magazine and wrote for the BBC until transferring to Italy.
