Paixão (Passion) is the title of a show to mark Thiago Soares' (first) 15 years on stage.
The programme consists of the third act of Swan Lake, which he will dance with Marianela Nuñez in Rio de Janeiro, then with Lauren Cuthbertson in Recife and São Paulo, together with the Companhia Brasileira de Ballet.
However there are new works which make up the rest of the evening.
This is a dream project for me as it is not only a celebration but also a way to introduce new creations to Brasil. I'm very happy to be able to celebrate with some great artists and colleagues,
said Soares.
Caresse du temps is one of those new creations, which Paris Opera Ballet's Alessio Carbone will choreograph for Soares and the Companhia Brasileira de Ballet. There will be a new solo work for Soares by Arthur Pita called La bala to give the programme some Latin colour.
Lastly Paixão, by the Brazilian writer, director, dancer, choreographer and Lawrence Oliver Award winner Deborah Colker. Colker wrote, directed and choreographed the Cirque du Soleil production Ovo, although Paixão is on quite a different scale: this is a piece for just her and Soares.
