In the studio

The rehearsal is led by Josephine Ann Endicott, artistic director of the restaging for the Pina Bausch Foundation and a dancer in the original core of Tanztheater Wuppertal. Filmed in the Sala Cecchetti by Annachiara Di Stefano and Costantino Lodolo D’Oria, it features the full cast of the piece.

The theatre says the studio work means encountering a language and a style that put its dancers to the test, drawing them towards a way of expressing themselves that “comes from a deep investigation of one’s own being”.

On stage from 7 November

Le Sacre du printemps is part of the Balanchine Bausch/Stravinsky double bill, which runs from 7 to 21 November. La Scala calls it “a memorable event” for the theatre, its company and its audience: a production that has to be experienced live and that, half a century after it was created in 1975, still has an intense and powerful presence on stages around the world.

The rehearsal is on Teatro alla Scala’s YouTube page on Thursday 29 October at 12 noon (Milan time).
